Swimming Pool Injuries

PDF Print

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that approximately 500 children under 5 years of age are the victims of drowning in a swimming pool each year.  An additional 3,000 children receive medical treatment for near-drowning injuries.  Nearly 13,000 people a year are injured in diving accidents.  Additionally, many people are injured after slipping and falling on wet pool decks.

A swimming pool owner may be responsible for a person’s injury because the pool was improperly maintained, there was a lack of supervision, lack of fencing, or inadequate warning signs.
