Food Poisoning
Food borne illness is an all too common problem. Some of the most common forms of food poisoning include: salmonella, E-coli and listeria. The elderly, young children, and people with compromised immune systems are at greatest risk of developing a serious illness. The symptoms of food poisoning can range from diarrhea and abdominal cramps to more serious illnesses such as kidney failure, meningitis, bacteremia (infection of the bloodstream), and even death.
There are many sources of food poisoning. Undercooked meats or fish, various types of contaminated fresh produce such as lettuce and fruits, eggs, poultry, improperly canned or refrigerated foods, and contaminated water are all potential sources of food poisoning.
